Hello Kitty... Break the Ice... Wet n Wild Megalast

Seeing all the fabulous Hello Kitty nail designs out there has me totally wanting to do a Hello Kitty manicure forever now. I got a couple Hello Kitty image plate a few weeks ago and I am braking them in! I used the basic Hello Kitty head design with an accent nail of Hello Kitty Bunny. I couldn't resist the Bunny...she is so cute!

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Milani Smoothe Base Coat
  • Wet n Wild Megalast in Break the Ice...2 coats
  • Out the Door...1 coat
  • Sinful Colors in Snow Me White For Image Color (Background)
  • Nail Plate CH11
  •  Pure Ice in Electric! For Image Color (Hello Kitty)
  • Nail Plate KD1
  • Sache Vite...1 coat

I grew up loving Hello Kitty. I remember going to the mall where there was a shop that had tons of Hello Kitty stuff. They had items from pens, pencils and erasers, to coin holders and posters, to clothes and bags...anything and everything imaginable! Oh... how I loved that Hello Kitty store!

Cupcakes... Party On My Yacht... Pretty and Polished

OMG...I finally got Pretty & Polished Jaw Breaker and a couple other colors and I am loving them! I am dieing to try Jaw Breaker because I have wanting it forever, but it did not go with my theme for this manicure. So I tried Party On My Yacht first because it looks perfect as sprinkles on the cupcakes. My theme is a Birthday theme. It is not my birthday, it is my dog's birthday. She turned six and she was spoiled with a ton of gifts...toys, treats, beds, jewelery...you name it she got it! : )

This is my first crack at any kind of freehand artwork on my nails. As I am looking at these pics I think my cupcakes look a bit like ice cream with sprinkles, topped with a cherry in a cup! Not sure what went wrong there, but I am going with this being cupcakes topped with *tons* of icing!  I guess I was a little over zealous when making the domes of the cupcakes...oops. That's OK this is how I like my cupcakes anyway...loaded down with icing. : )

I just figured it out... my cupcake bottoms are too wide! Cupcake bottoms are not as wide as their tops. As they bake the tops bake up and over the bottoms and then you slather it with all that delicious icing!

Yeah...these are ice cream cups....crap! Cupcake mani fail! : ( Booo Hisss!!! Oh well, ice cream still falls within the Birthday theme. I love ice cream too! : )

See more Indie Polish I have used. I love Indie Polishes! :)

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Milani Smoothe Base Coat
  •  Pretty & Polished in Party At My Yacht (pinky & ring fingers)... 2 coats
  • Sinful Colors in Flutter (over all nail base color)...1 coat
  •  Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Twisted Pink (cupcake bottom)... 1 coat
  • Sinful Colors in Snow Me White (icing and stripes on cupcake bottoms)... 1 coat (not in pic above)
  • Out the Door...1 coat
  • Pretty & Polished in Party At My Yacht (sprinkles)... 1 coat
  • Revlon Colorstay in Velvet Rope (cherry)...1 coat
  •  Sache Vite...1 coat

Here is a picture of the Birthday girl! This is Bunny and she turned six years old. I just love her to death!! She is the best dog on planet Earth!

Candy-Licious / Rose Bonbon Stamping... Wet n Wild Megalast

I am not a huge lover of pinks or reds and I rarely reach for them when doing my nails (so why do I have over 25 pinks and 15 reds in different shades then?!?...anyway...). Today I reached for this pink by Wet N Wild Megalast called Candy-Licious / Rose Bonbon and figured, lets see what I can do with this. Of all the pinks I own this is the last shade that I would ordinarily reach for. But I have to say after I was done with the mani I really like it on me better than looking at it in the bottle! I am shocked because when I was opening the bottle I was thinking it was really kind of Pepto-Bismol looking and thought I was going to totally hate it.

I ran with the name of this polish since it was so fitting of the shade and I used this full nail stamping of candies and lollipops...totally cute stamp image! : )

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Milani Smoothe Base Coat
  • Wet n Wild Megalast in Candy-Licious / Rose Bonbon...2 coats
  • Out the Door...1 coat
  • Nail Plate BM-306
  • Sinful Colors in Snow Me White For Image Color
  •  Sache Vite...1 coat

Watercolors... Midsummers Night... KB Shimmer... Swatch / Review

I was feeling like something bright, glittery and full of color. I had narrowed it down to KB Shimmer Watercolor and KB Shimmer Midsummer's Night. I couldn't decide on which one of these to go with, so as I stared at the bottles some more...looking for an answer of which one to try first... it hit me that they actually work quit well together. So there it was...an answer...I was going to use them both.

KB Shimmer Midsummer's Night is a red based, purple neon, but not a bright neon with turquoise glitter, aqua and pink holographic glitters, and white glitters in a variety of shapes, including stars, shreds, hexes. This is an amazingly beautiful polish and is Polish is “3-Free” and does not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde or Dibutyl Phthalate.

KB Shimmer Watercolor is a blue based neon, but not a bright neon with purple glitters in two sizes, a bright blue glitter, royal blue large hex, pink holographic hex and magenta hex glitters.  It also has micro pink and larger sliver holographic glitters. Also is “3-Free” and does not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde or Dibutyl Phthalate.

I absolutely love the aesthetics of both these colors, but I must make one negative comment on the formula of the Midsummer's Night...it is a complete nightmare! It was so thick and globby... I had to fight with this polish to go on my nails! I didn't have trouble getting the glitter out of the bottle, I had trouble laying down the polish. It was crazy!! I don't own any thinner, but I sure wish I did because I would have certainly used it on this polish. I don't know if that would have helped, but I would have tried anything to improve the formula. The formula of the Watercolors was perfect...no problems with that color at all.

I love, love, love these polishes and I will certainly keep them and use them again. But I will make a purchase of some nail polish thinner before reaching for the Midsummer's Night again.

See more Indie Polish I have used. I love Indie Polishes! :)

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Milani Base Coat
  • KB Shimmer in Midsummer's Night (purple)...2 coats
  • KB Shimmer in Watercolors (blue)...2 coats
  • Seche Vite...1 coat

If you are interested in buying these polishes they have a website... KB Shimmer. They have tons of amazing polish colors, as well as bath and body products, which I will be trying in my next order!

Rain Drops On Glass... Nail Junkie, Blue and Teal...Sinful Colors and Sally Hansen

Today I have a mani that looks like raindrops on glass. I wanted to use the Sinful Colors Nail Junkie and I was torn between using the teal or blue under it... so I used both and left one nail without any base color under it at. Not sure which I like best... I think I like the teal slightly better, but I do like all of them.

The Middle has just Sinful Color Nail Junkie only in three coats. The ring finger has one coat of Blue Me Away and two coats of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. The thumb, pointer and pinky fingers have one coat of The Real Teal and two coats of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie.

The Nail Junkie alone (middle finger) looks exactly like the one's with The Real Teal as a base color (thumb, pointer and pinky). The only difference I see is the middle finger has a bit of VNL.

Overall I think Sinful Colors Nail Junkie has a really cool looking effect. I will certainly be using this again. My mind is racing with all the possibilities of this polish. It's a keeper for sure.

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Sache Clear Base Coat**
  • Middle Finger: Sinful Colors in Nail Junkie Only...3 coats
  • Ring Finger: Sinful Colors in Nail Junkie...2 coats and Sally Hansen in Blue Me Away...1 coat
  • Thumb, Pointer & Pinky Fingers: Sinful Colors in Nail Junkie...2 coats and Sally Hansen in The Real Teal...1 coat
  • Seche Vite...1 coat

**A note about the base coat...I have been using Seche Clear for the last few manis and I have had one or two entire nail's polish completely peal off some of the times I used this base coat. I have not had this happen when I was using Milani Smoothe Base Coat. Is this a coincidence? Have you guys had this experience with Seche Clear? I am not sure I want to use this any more. I will be switching back to Milani Smoothe Base Coat!

Camouflage Nails... Green and Brown

I wanted to do a camouflage manicure for a while now...I have a long list of "manicures to do" list and this has been on it for a while. There are times I look at my nails and think these just look like blobs of color and there are times I look at my nails and think, yeah...this looks like camouflage. All and all, I guess that is what camo really is...random blobs of color that run more in a horizontal pattern. So here is my first attempt at a camo mani.

There are so many different color combos of camo prints out there...blue tones, pink tones, black tone, green tone, green and brown, etc. I went with the green and brown colors for this one, but  I really want to do a pink camo next. That will be my next stab at doing a camo mani.

I am on the fence about the top coat being so shiny. Though I am not so big on doing the matte top coat, I think it may be more appropriate for this manicure. The shine on the camo design just looks a little off. I think I have to go buy a matte top coat for my next attempt at this.

Any ideas of a good matte coat out there? I know nothing about them.

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Sache Clear Base Coat
  • China Glaze in Kalahari Kiss...1 coat
  • Loreal in Safari Chic...camo markings
  • Milani in Teddy Brown...camo markings
  • Sally Hansen in Black Heart...camo markings
  • Out the Door...1 coat

Shooting Stars and Androgynie...Orly

I have been wanting to do a black polish manicure for a while now. So when I was at Sally's picking up a couple of the China Glaze Safari Collection polishes that I had to have, of course I had to just see what else they had. Well, as soon as I saw this polish I got all wide eyed...it was mine...it being Orly Androgynie. This polish is a black jelly base with a slight gold shimmer and added to that are some larger blue, green, gold and copper/orangey glitters. It is very pretty.

Though this polish looks amazing on, getting it on was a bit of a pain! The glitter sank to bottom so fast it was crazy, but the up side of that is that when I inverted the bottle it mixed back up quickly too. It was a lot of stopping to mix the polish thought. I also found myself digging for glitter too. It was a bit of work to get the large pieces of glitter in the brush. I think the results are worth it though, but this certainly is not a polish to use if you are in a rush to get it on quickly!

To that I just added a simple shooting star stamping just for a little something extra. This polish certainly does not need it as it a great one that makes a statement on its own. I just wanted to try adding a little something more.

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Sache Clear Base Coat
  • Orly in Androgynie...3 coats
  • Out the Door...1 coat
  • Revlon in Golden for Stamping
  • Stamping Plate m33
  • Out the Door...1 coat

Fig Jam... Revlon Scented Parfume Polish

I was drawn to this color the second I stepped in front of all the Revlon Scented Polishes. It is a warm coppery, peachy, brown color with a lovely gold shimmer. I really am loving the Revlon polishes. They have great colors with good formulation and decent brushes. I have achieved complete coverage in two coats with all the Revlons I tried, except for the Sunshine Sparkle which was a fairly pale yellow...I applied 3 coats. I bet that would have looked just fine with two coats.  I am going to have to try that one using only two coats.

I don't know what in the world that huge bump is in my pinky nail...how annoying!

Anyway, I avoided these polishes like the plague in the past because they were scented. I thought that would annoy me, but this actually smells pretty good. It is a kind of sweet smell. I have only had this on now for a few hours, but of what I have read the smell wears off after a day. I will update this posting after I find that out first hand.

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Sache Clear Base Coat
  • Revlon Scented Parfume in Fig Jam...2 coats
  • Out the Door...1 coat

The only slight con about this was the brush. And this is just my personal preference because I like the fatter, fuller brushes. This one is on the skinny narrow side, but that will not stop me from getting more of these. This was over all a good purchase and I will be buying more. : )

And now for the ridiculously cute (IMO) cat pics. This is what it is like at my house when ever I do my nails...it is exhausting apparently!

This is Howie and he always passes out when I am doing my nails. He certainly sleeps hard because he did not even think about opening his eyes...and boy, oh boy does he not care about sprawling out and taking up the whole bed!

Oh what it must be like to be living the good life!

Fourth Of July... Stars, Stripes and Fireworks...

In the spirit of celebrating Independence Day (USA), I created a Stars, Stripes and Fireworks manicure. I really wanted to incorporate the Statute of liberty, but since I do not have a stamping plate of that image, that idea was out the door. I would not dare to try to free hand that one! OMG...you would never make out what it was supposed to be! You might make out the basic outline of it somewhat resembles the figure of a person. But that is probably it. The torch would probably look like she is just holding an extra large hand above her head. I know my limitations. Maybe one day I will be able to do that...certainly not on this day! So, anyway this is what I came up with.

I didn't want to go with a stark white base and I didn't want anything that was looking more silver than white, because I wanted to stick with the colors of the American flag. So I had to do some layering for the base. I used one coat of Wet n Wild in French White Creme and then one coat of Sinful Colors in Out Of This World. It took the edge off the solid white and gave it a bit of sparkle...sparkle is always a plus! : )

Then added stamping of some stripes on the diagonal and topped that with some stars in the opposing color. I think that is pretty reminiscent of the American flag. And the Forth of July is never complete without some fireworks, so I had a stamp for that too!

For this manicure I applied the following:
  • Sache Clear Base Coat...1 coat
  • Wet N Wild, Wild Shine in French White Creme...1 coat
  • Sinful Colors in Out Of This World...1 coat
  • Out the Door...1 coat
  • Nail Plates: CH5, BM02 and BM20
  • Konad Special Polish in Red For Image Color
  • Revlon Top Speed in Royal For Image Color
  •  Sache Vite Top Coat...1 coat
